Assistant Accountant
Full Time (Hybrid) | Sydney or Melbourne
We’re looking for an Accounting Graduate to join our Finance team who wants exposure to a fast-paced agency environment and is excited by the commercial side of media, marketing, and business operations.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, pays attention to detail, and wants to develop into a commercially capable finance professional rather than sitting in a purely transactional role.
This role reports directly into the CFO, offering the successful candidate a unique opportunity to accelerate their learning from one of the most respected financial figures within the media industry. See key responsiblities below:
• Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes
• Support monthly management reporting and reconciliations
• Help prepare client billing, supplier payments, and revenue tracking
• Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow reporting
• Work closely with account service teams to ensure accurate client invoicing and media reconciliations
• Support end-of-month and end-of-year finance processes
• Maintain financial records and ensure data accuracy across systems
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance function
• Learn how agency commercial models, retainers, and media reconciliations operate
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We’re less focused on extensive experience and more interested in attitude, capability, and potential.
You may be a strong fit if you are:
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail
• Curious about how businesses operate commercially
• Comfortable working with numbers and analysing information
• Proactive and willing to take ownership of tasks
• A strong communicator who can work across different teams
• Adaptable in a fast-moving environment
• Collaborative, low-ego, and eager to learn
• Interested in building a long-term career in finance or commercial operations
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
• Recent graduate (or final year student) in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or Business
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with data
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Exposure to accounting software is advantageous but not essential
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
In your first 12 months, you’ll:
• Develop a strong understanding of agency financial operations
• Become confident managing reconciliations and reporting processes
• Build relationships across finance, client service, and leadership teams
• Gain exposure to commercial decision-making within a growing business
• Take increasing ownership of reporting and finance workflows
